- Hello,
-
- If this is posted in the wrong place please point me to the right
- place.
-
- We have a mouse on COM1 (IRQ 4) and a modem on COM 4 (IRQ 3). When I
- tried to install a second modem (we have two phone lines) on COM 3
- (IRQ 4) my mouse stopped working when I started using the modem on COM
- 3. I understand that this is because of the IRQ conflict. I
- understand how to change the jumpers on my modem card for the COM
- ports and I can pick an IRQ of 2 thru 7. I found a place in the
- Windows Control Panel ports settings to change the IRQ of a port. My
- sound card is at IRQ 5. Before I open up the box again, and maybe
- break something, I wonder if anyone has any suggestions as to whether
- IRQs 6 or 7 would be better, or safer. Has anyone tried this? Is
- there a way to know if any of the other IRQs are being used already?
-
- Thanks so much for any help,
-
